2. Caban Coch Reservoir

3. Elan Valley Visitor Centre Trail
Accessible beauty with plenty of variety
If you’d like a location with easy access (no hiking boots required), the trails near the Visitor Centre offer river views, lush greenery, and wooden bridges that create lovely compositional frames for portraits.

Tip: Great option for winter or early spring shoots when the light is softer and low.
4. Garreg Ddu Dam & Bridge
Architectural interest and tranquil forest paths
Garreg Ddu’s curved bridge and reservoir are perfect if you love a mix of architecture and nature. The surrounding forest paths offer dappled light, tree-lined walkways, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels beautifully intimate.

Tip: Arrive early to avoid walkers and have the bridge to yourselves.
5. Claerwen Reservoir

Claerwen is a little further out but well worth the drive. Rugged, untamed, and quieter than the other dams, it’s a brilliant choice if you want a more adventurous shoot or love the idea of wind-in-your-hair images against raw, natural scenery.

Tip: It’s remote — pack snacks, boots, and be ready for changeable weather!
